Revit 2017 Text Editor - Very Poor Functionality

Revit 2017 text editor greatly reduces productivity  Is there any improvement planned?:

  • Drag & drop text no longer functions.
  • Activating text box does not immediately allow text insertion.  Blinking cursor ignores text input.
  • Text selection within editor will not allow typing of replacement text.

I find that annoying as well. I need to hit delete to remove highlighted text before typing in new characters. No other software works that way, that I know of.

They do have plans to get the text editor to work better in the upcoming service packs and updates. I have read several statements on that matter 🙂 but one can never be sure when they will do that

I believe (if I am not mistaken) the first update/service pack for 2017 has been already released... did you try if it improves anything at all?

Installed the update last night. That one is fixed. I didn't try drag n drop text though. still can't use home and end keys after typing characters in Revit windows /edit forms.

The update fixes the sporadic problem of highlighting text in the opposite direction than how you're actually dragging it out with the mouse.

But it still has issues where after highlighting text, it doesn't always respond to anything you're doing at first.  But, a second try works.  Still a bit frustrating.  But at least the backwards highlighting/editing has been fixed.

They still have some work to do.

Revit Text Editor should be replaced with one from a program that works, like WORD or AUTOCAD.
