I discovered some weird bug in the new text editor. After upgrading the project from 2016. When I create new text within a viewport that’s on a sheet. The text selector stays on the left while typing – making it impossible to select text and edit/erase. when i move my type selector with my keyboard arrows, the left arrow moves the selector to the right and the right arrow moves it to the left, BUT! when typing the actual typing doesn’t start where the selector is, instead it follows the real directions of my keyboard arrows – making it impossible to know where you are editing/typing.
When I edit/create text directly in the views they work fine.

That sounds like the mirroring issue that support is working on a fix for now. My understanding is closing the view and opening it again will help restore normal behavior, until it happens again. What about when you aren't working on the view via the sheet, which is what it sounds like you were doing?

Btw is Autodesk working on a fix for this font size conversion ratios with the new text editor? The issue is not just upgrading well developed projects from 2016 with lots of text but all the families, details, etc.
I can't imagine that big firms that has spent years perfecting their families, details, etc. should just be fine with that?
I see this is a major problem everyone is having and has huge implications for BIM management.
I continue to have this problem regardless of the type of view, upgraded/new project, or anything else. Its in all text editing situations. Is my situation unique?
Hi
I have this problem on one view but not on others. Is there a fix out yet?
My workaround for now is to type out the test on a view where it works and then paste it to the view where I need it. Lets hope the first update fixes it
Do you know if this fix will be and part of the R1 release or a separate independent release - meaning they release it as soon they fixed it?
This bug is a huge problem working on legends/specifications with lots of text. Super frustrating.
My observation is that the SP1 has not fixed this problem ![]()
Please can we have a Hotfix...please,please,please
I have found the same. SP1 has not fixed this issue.
This NEEDS to be resolved ASAP!
I too have had all of these problems and I have honestly felt that this Text Editor upgrade has been a big fail and not worth it.
This is the mirroring issue that Autodesk knows about. Have you tried the service pack update? Apparently they have fixed it already.
I haven't gotten that issue again, but some people say they still experience the issue after update. Try it and see what happens
What I did was change each of my text types (i.e. 2.5mm, 3.5mm 5mm, etc) go into the type properties and change the width factor from 1.0 to 0.95. This seems to keep all existing text from upgraded models within their text box spacing, so no need to readjust everything after that. That is if the font was Arial. For other fonts the width factor might be different.
One more thing I just noticed is that the new font size change is not implemented though out the entire program. For example, the size of the label in a View Title family while set to be exactly the same as a Text type in Project, but when loaded in the Project, it is visibly smaller than an identical piece of Text.
Edited: Same thing happens to schedule text. Same text type for Text Note and Schedule, vastly different sizes on drawings. I started getting angry.
Hi
I've also noticed a difference in text size between text and tags. My assumption is that labels are still sized according the the old method.
Hi cmilton
Have you seen SP2 is out? I'm holding thumbs it solves this problem for the guys where SP1 didn't help ![]()
