Windows 10 updated around June 5-6 of this year (2017) and now Revit and Inventor will not open up. What should I do?

Part of that update seems to be updated Windows Defender (virus/malware detection).
Could be that the update interferes with Revit/Inventor. See if switching it off (temporarily) will allow Revit Inventor to start
(Note: be careful when switching of antivirus software)
Other options might be:
-Go to a restore point before 5th June and see if that alllow Revit/Inventor to work again
-Reinstall Revit/Inventor
Louis
Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
Hi @Anonymous
All Autodesk 2017 products are supported on Windows 10 (desktop OS). See the system requirements for your product to verify compatibility and specific details.

When I try to get into Inventor it says "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCR110.dll was not found. reinstalling the program may fix this problem." Should I uninstall and reinstall? If I need to do I need a new license or not? Just install again?
I tried uninstall the C++ like you said and reinstalling them but It didn't work. Hopefully that doesn't cause more problems. Should I uninstall REVIT and reinstall it?
Hi @Anonymous
I can see that you are getting the error “The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCR110.dll was not found” when you open the Desktop App.
In order to solve this issue I would recommend you perform a clear uninstall of the software.
On the Start menu (Windows), click Settings > Control Panel.
In Control Panel, double-click Programs and Features.
Select the Autodesk product, and then click Uninstall.
Follow the prompts to either repair or reinstall the product.
Once you have uninstall the Desktop App, you can download the installer at: Autodesk Desktop App.
The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:
Uninstalling a Product
Once your product is uninstalled, please try downloading your Autodesk Software using the Virtual Agent (Please be sure to disable your firewall and anti-virus before downloading)
Please post to the installation and licensing forum for specific questions.
Please mark this response as "Accept as Solution" if it answers your question. Kudos gladly accepted.

I uninstalled REVIT and reinstalled it and it still doesn't work. It stopped working on June fifth after a windows 10 update. REVIT is more important to me-I need REVIT to work and Inventor can wait. What should I do? I click on Revit and it immediately says there is a problem. Most of the time it doesn't say why and just says that it wants to send an error report to autodesk. One time it said there was a "license error 1" something like that.
What should I do?
Garrett
I clicked on it again and it said "the instruction at 0x0007ffe7---- referenced memeory at 0xf-. The memory could not be read."
Hello @lewis_40,
Welcome!
Please review this post it will explain how Windows 7, 8.1, 10 Updates & Microsoft 4.7.NET Framework are affecting the launch of Autodesk software, the Windows 10 update includes 4.7 .NET Framework so it is suggested to uninstall it. Also, take a look at Windows 10 Creators Update & Defender to make sure you do not have these installed in your Control Panel.

Hello @Anonymous,
Have you resolved the issue?
In some cases, the Windows update can not be uninstalled. You can try reaching out to Microsoft to have it removed Uninstall Windows 10 Creators Update. If you have reached the expiration for the rollback you need to reach out to them if you can not access the uninstall option in the Control Panel or you can do a Windows System Restore.

It is still not working. It is now saying License system 1 error. Something like that. Can't remember what it said exactly. THis is frustrating. I did a complete uninstall and it still isn't working.

The link to uninstall and reinstall Windows Visual C++ no longer exists. I am having the same exact issues with Revit 2017 and have had to go back to Windows 7 because of this. I was looking to try out one of these solutions, but since the link doesn't send me to any information anymore, I can't. Could you send me to somewhere that this process is located? I read that 2017 had an update that should have fixed this, but it didn't fix anything on my office computer. Thanks
Hi @Anonymous
Thanks for the heads-up!
Can you try the following for me until we fix the broken link:
Open Control Panel > Programs and Features and try to repair the Microsoft Visual C++: right-click on each Visual C++ entry and click Change > Repair.
Let me know if that helps resolve your issue.
