Revit 2017 has an error when trying to print to an HP 1055 CM plotter

I have tried to print some sheets in the Revit 2017 to my HP 1055CM plotter but soon as I try to go into the properties for the plotter to adjust size, etc. I get this message:

Revit Error 1.JPG

I just recently installed the new Revit 2017 and the plotter worked fine with the Revit 2016 version. I have tried to do the print on multiple computers and using multiple project files with the same results. Our small printer and adobe PDF creator work perfectly fine. Just not the plotter. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Hi @Anonymous,

I haven't seen this on the Revit side of things before. Do you have problems printing from other software? For instance can you send a PDF to the plotter?

I assume this plotter is on a network. Do you print to a server print queue or do you print directly to the IP address of the plotter? (It looks like you print straight to the IP)

You might try printing to both to see if there is a difference.

The next thing I would try is to download a driver for a newer HP model such as the PageWide series. Point it to the same IP address and then try to print out of Revit.

The plotter works when we use adobe for PDF's and other software. It was working fine with the Revit 2016 the only thing that it doesn't want to work with is the Revit 2017. IP address is currently the only way we can connect to the plotter as it is stored in a separate room from our desks. Not sure how I would be able to download a driver from a newer HP model. I am not sure how that would be compatible.

Hi @Anonymous,

What operating system are you using? I checked HPs website and they don't appear to have a driver more current than 2012 for your plotter.

I was wondering if a print driver for something like the  Drivers & Software for HP DesignJet T7200 42-in Production Printer might work since they support more current operating systems.

Our office is using a Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7. Revit 2016 was already on our Windows 7 but we did not get Revit 2017 until after we did the upgrade to Windows 10. I looked up under the HP support and downloaded the hpdj1000wx64glen driver which did not seem to work. I can attempt to download the T7200 driver to see if that might work. I will update my status as to if it worked or not.

Look for a universal driver instead of for a different printer/plotter.  That might work better.
