Hii all

Do you have experience with Revit for export to CAD specialy with GRIDS, and out put still with the same quality (line weight, line style, etc). Specialy with using revit link also.

I got problem, with several option Export Setup specialy with Export layer options:

Export all properties BYLAYER, and create new layers for overrides

  • Some model became one color
  • Grids line same look like Revit view(dash, space, dash, space)
  • Sections line same look like Revit view

Export category properties BYLAYER and overrides BYENTITY

  • each model have different layer and color based on setting export CAD from Revit
  • Grids line became continues style
  • Sections line became continues style

Sometimes need to edit again so can same line styles like Revit view.

Export all properties BYLAYER, and create new layers for overrides

almost similar "Export category properties BYLAYER and overrides BYENTITY"

  • Some model became one color
  • Create another layer
  • Grids line same look like Revit view(dash, space, dash, space)
  • Sections line same look like Revit view

Question is, how to make CAD files Line weight, line styles, grids etc the quality looks same like Revit when export to CAD?

Hi from Spain Edwingu.

have you tried the different existing mapping files that comes with revit (AIA, ISO13567, BS1192...)?

I think that you will need create your own file mapping in order to translate properties from revit objects to DWG entities.
The process isn't simple neither easy.

It is explained in this link, more or less.

Yes, I already try... we decide to keep priority for the layer with option "Export all properties BYLAYER, but do not export overrides".

The reason is, easy to change layer ..and the result is same when export to CAD.

I change with AIA, ISO, BS1192, or CP83, the result for the grid lines style...still became continuous.

Have you tried to directly map line type style? (second tab).
You can force the line type assigning one of the ACADISO.lin file.

See this (my revit is in spanish):

Export category properties BYLAYER and overrides BYENTITY

Grid lines are not solid, but you need to change the LTSCALES or other variables controlling the scale.

Thanks for your tips, but we still keep priority for CAD layer standard with option "Export all properties BYLAYER, but do not export overrides".

I already try this option, still need a lot time change all layer for this option.

Still try another option, for reduce our problem.

Thanks.

There is absolutely no need to change any layers. The grids are exported with proper linetype if you look at the screenshot I posted.

Yes, you are correct.

I also forgot the mention...the project is use REVIT link also, thats why we keep the layers. At Revit link, we also keep layers.

Even for grid, i already try make at main file or use link file.

If you have another option, I'm very grateful.
