Revit 2017 - Cannot select floors after creating them

I am having trouble selecting floors or any structural families in Revit 2017.

I can place the floors like normal but as soon as I click the green check mark to finish the floor turns grey and I cannot select it. I can "select all in view" in the project browser but if I try to click on it or highlight it it will still not select. 

I have checked to see if it's pinned and it is not so does anyone know where else I should look to fix this?

This is also true with the rest of the structural families but floors are my main concern (need a concrete pad for boilers).

Hi.

Just check the discipline in the view properties. Try to switch it to architectural or structural.
