Revit 2017 - Can't select certain elements

I've been working with a plan where not all of the elements are selectable - specifically all of the furniture and some of the walls. I have selecting links enabled, selecting pinned elements enabled, and selecting underlay elements enabled. All of the furniture is halftone, but when I head to VG overrides, mostly everything is grayed out except for the few marked checkboxes under halftone. However, I can't uncheck them - nothing happens when I click on the checkbox. I've read a little bit about Design Options, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with that menu. My goal is to select and rearrange the furniture.

In case it's relevant, I work on shared files, but I'm the only one working on them right now. I am not the owner of the files.

Any help would be appreciated!

hi @Anonymous

Could be related to the worksets.. which workset belong all that furniture? You have rights to move it? If not..request.

I am not sure which workset the furniture belongs to, but there is no owner listed for any of them except one. I am listed as the owner of the workset I created when I noticed this problem.

This tells me that the V/G settings are controlled by a view template but I don't think that will help with the selection issue.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

It's easier to upload your model here or..some screenshots.

Create a new floor plan view of the level so that the view is not template dependent and rearrange the furniture there.

You've mentioned Design Options. Are there any created in the project?

If the elements are in a Design Option you can only select/change them when that option is active.

So I've been working on this and you're right, I can only edit the elements
via Design Options. However, any changes I make to the Design Options are
then reflected in the main model, which is confusing. I'm not sure how to
only edit a specific design option OR change which elements are active in
said design options.

The reason you're seeing the changes is probably because that option is set as a primary or the view is set to display that option.
