Hello,
Recently installed Revit 2017.2 Update on the computers within our firm. One user keeps getting a pop-up every day asking about Modify Setup and whether to Uninstall update.
Any knowledge as to correcting this issue?
Thanks in advance,
Hello.
Welcome to the Revit Architecture Forum.
the error message is asking you to uninstall the update. as per the http://up.autodesk.com/2017/RVT/Autodesk_Revit_2017_2_Readme.htm#UnInstall
you have to uninstall Autodesk Revit 2017 and then reinstall it. which seems like a solution for you as the update could be corrupted.
Thanks
Karan
Hi, cwireman,
I'm Judy, a Revit specialist - happy to help you if you still need help. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Revit 2017? If you've done so and there is still an issue, you might need to use the clean uninstall procedure to make sure all Revit files are removed before attempting to reinstall the software. Let me know how it's going and if you need more assistance.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Cheers,
Judy Staicer
I have not been able to yet as I was trying other quicker fixes since uninstalling Revit off a mobile user's workstation is the least desired thing we plan on doing. However, we have time scheduled today with the user's workstation to uninstall and reinstall. This solution is not an acceptable answer though.

In my experience the clean install technique is often times the "quicker" solution. It does not enlighten you as to "why" something happened or what the root cause is, but it gets to the desired state (being able to work without popup) quicker.
A few months ago I was working on tracking down a odd interface issue with a Revit install on my PC. Elements of the UI went missing for some reason. I spent multiple hours tracking the problem down to a bad registry key and in the end did a complete uninstall and clean re-install anyhow. If I had done that straight away I would have saved myself a ton of troubleshooting time. of course I would not have known it was caused by a bad registry key.
First I started with just uninstall and reinstall, same problem. Then I just ran the clean uninstall and reinstall same problem.
Hi, cwireman,
I'm sorry to hear that the clean uninstall didn't work. I've asked our Installation and Licensing team to follow up with you for further troubleshooting, so you'll be hearing from someone from that group soon.
Best regards,
Judy Staicer
I`m also bumping into this warning upon trying to run the 2017.2 update. But only if I try to manually run the update.
This is a clean install (First Customer Ship / 17.0.416.0 / 20160225_1515)
I currently do not have the time, nor see the need to reinstall Revit for this purpose.
I`ll wait for an update on this issue.
Thanks
Francisco
Quick update
Log file for this installation states that I have already installed a Beta version of this update, and instructs me to uninstall it and try to install the update again. Hard to believe but the installation was not made by me. Shouldn`t the build version reflect this if this was the case?
"J est instalada uma verso Beta desta atualizao. Remova a verso Beta e tente a instalao novamente."
All the log file is in english except this phrase, windows is english, Autodesk Desktop APP in in Portuguese, FWIW
I have spent the last 3 days doing a clean install / uninstall to get this update to work on 1 machine.
I re-downloaded the update as well.
I manually run the update from a folder.
I have Revit 2015 installed as well.
I removed all Autodesk Applications from the control panel, Autodesk uninstalls tool and the registry.
I followed the Autodesk clean uninstall guide 4 times.
It takes forever to uninstall and re-install.
My support from Ideate (Seattle) is to try again.
We have almost 50 users.
I am the BIM manager and IT manager.
Our Central files get corrupted when we don't have the same update flavor on each team member's PC.

My build: 17.0.416.0

My Screen shots:
In most cases, the described behavior occurs when attempting to install the Revit 2017.2.1 Update on a workstation on which the update had previously been installed. The problem stems from a left over registry key that is not removed when Revit 2017 is uninstalled. You should be able to resolve this problem by manually deleting the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{5c9a9e68-bc8b-4bf6-9641-0c53896c8c14}.
