Hey Everyone,
I wanted to post and see if I could get some help with an issue we are having. I work in the IT department of an AEC firm. We still use Revit 2016 for some active projects we have going. All of our new PC builds come with Windows 10, which is what we are installing the 2016 BDS suite on. Everything installs fine, and for the most part works fine. However we recently found a small issue that I haven't been able to figure out.
In certain sheets of a model, the text won't wrap properly when resizing a text box. When you resize the textbox, it won't wrap at all, the box changes size, but the text won't move. All of the latest AutoDesk Service Packs are installed as well as updates, but it doesn't resolve the issue. We originally thought that it was an issue with the model, but it will work fine depending on the user that opens it. We deleted all local files and started from scratch, same result. We detached from the central model, and tried again, and it still gives the same result. After some troubleshooting, we realized that the model opens and performs fine for Windows 7 users, and the issue is only on Windows 10 machines. I tried building a new computer with a fresh install and it did the same thing. I tried on a basic Win10 PC with nothing but BDS 2016 and the OS installed and it did the same thing.
I've searched the forums and haven't found anything specifically like this which is why I am posting. I've tried removing every C++ and .Net install and reinstalled them to no avail. I also tried repairs, reinstalls, and basically everything that might normally cause software related issues. Now I am reaching out to the community, because I am out of ideas.
Revit 2016 worked fine in our testing so far as we could tell and we've been deploying these machines this way for 6+ months. We're talking 100+ machines, so I kind of need to find a fix/work around for this issue. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
We often experience the same problem in our practice on Revit 17, and also haven't been able to get to the bottom of it. The workaround that I use is to simply close that particular window and restart it - it seems to fix the problem. I'm afraid I can't tell if this is a Revit bug or an issue with the file itself. My sensation is that something strange happens to text if there is any imported CAD, but I can't be sure. Would love to know what the solution is.
