Revit 2016 and 2017 BUG????

Revit 2017 - Architectural Template

Wndows 10

Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) I7-4790K CPU @ 4.00 GHz 4.0 GHz

Installed Memory: 16GB

System Type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based Processor

Issue: View Range not showing Cut in Plan View, wall are above cut plan, door height above cut plane, Metric or architectural settings.

Exterior wall 8m, Interior Wall 3m, Door 2.5m, View range cut 1m (top same) - Shadow shows exterior walls being cut, but not the interior walls, nor doors -  and shadows are being cast over exterior wall???????? in image below.

Last image I introduce Plan region, not even on the area - off to side, and it cuts wall, but walls cut not show with correct pen weight. The plan region was originally set to same cut height of 1m as plan. I then moved the plan region to side and it still kept the plan region. But once I deleted the plan region it return the original view below. I looked at both view ranges that matched. No filter being used, and no overwrites. Object style has not been altered. Level 1 used. I looked at all the probabilities. Nothing....

Because there is a hidden plan region over the interior walls area.  It sets the cut plane of the area inside the region higher than the area outside.  So the shadow of the walls inside the plan region appears longer.

Reveal hidden elements and you may see another plan region there.  Delete it as well.

Sorry no other plan region introduced, I simply added the plan region to prove my point.

No links, just one plan region, it's an odd behavior that I've not seen since V2010, when the roof was not hiding the elements below.

No doubled object on top of each other either.

Since I cannot replicate the problem so can I ask you to upload the file?

Just so you know I played around with the again and settings, still no solution found.

You can change the height of the view range, but still has no effect on file.

View the plan with shadows ON, so you can see how walls are reacting.

Note, that the walls are not displayed correctly. lower was are not being cut for some odd reason, and higher walls are.

Note doors and not being cut also. And it doesn't matter now low or high you cut.

Only the 3d views to cut, because it uses the section box.

note that it only behaves this way with Metric...

If I start with Imperial no problem.

Got it now.

If the wall is lower than 2000 mm then it won't cut no matter where the cut plane is. I agree with you that it is a pretty bad bug.

The only workaround I have found is draw the wall at least 2000 mm height, then edit profile and lower the top down to the height you want.

Not the kind of workaround that I wish to incorporate.

This BUG needs to be fixed. I was able be patch with a plan region, but still needs to be addressed.

I also teach very large Revit classes in OC California that are State Funded.

And I deal directly with Several LARGE Corp. and Offices, like Gensler, AECOM, Disney, as well as several major construction contractors.

I can't give them that kind of response.

Guess I'll have to contact someone direct, to get this expedited. Or contact Corp directly to get Autodesk Rep involved.

Not arguing with that.

On the flip side, the more flaws the software has, the more value a BIM instructer/manager becomes. If I were you, this a golden opportunity to up your stock.

By the way, you can fix the opening with adding a plan region but it still does not solve the wall cut line issue.  The workaround I mentioned should be taking care of that.

New file no more plan regions, and no hidden object
