Revit 2016 & 3dconnexion mouse

I am having a real hard time getting my devices to run smoothly. Been messing with the speed settings, calibration, etc. I have both a space pilot pro and a space mouse. One runs on Windows 7 64 bit and one on 8.1 64 bit. I have swapped the devices between machines with similar results.

In 3D mode the model will inch left and right but stop there sort of like it is locked. But if I at the same time agitate the mouse the model will move. When zooming in or out I hyper blast the model into oblivion just touching the mouse. Then ZA to get the model back. In 2D mode the mouse works just about fine.

Any known fixes?

Thanks,

Karl

I should probably add that when I shift + center mouse to orbit the model flows flawlessly so this has been my fall back.

I'm having exactly the same problem with my space navigator, non fixes found around the web. I've also tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, without success.
The strange thing is that in the family editor everything works fine...

Is there someone of the Revit staff that can help us??

Thanks,
Marco

The reason I posted this here on the Autodesk site is that I was told by 3Dconnexion that the issue is not theirs but Autodesks.

So far no resolutions.

Hello,

I am also experiencing a similar situation when in 3D view, where the Spacenavigator get STUCK, and you can only move left/right top/down. I don't know if this is linked to the issue reported by @KARLLUNDIN4864 : but it is very similar: I quote him/her : "the model will inch left and right but stop there sort of like it is locked".

This seems to occur when opening or working on second file, and switching between them. At this point it invariably "Freezes gets locked" in 3D view. Also when a 3D view has been locked, upon re-opening, as soon as you unlock it > start to use the 3D mouse, it gets frozen again.

The only way to get out of this situation, is to close Revit and re-open ONE document only. This totally kills the workflow, as constantly closing between work sessions, is such a waste of time (I mean closing Revit 6 or 7 times every 30 minutes, is a total annoyance and waste of time. Frustrierte Smiley).

Has anyone experienced the same issue? Thanks for confirming Smiley (zwinkernd)

PS:I am using Windows 8.1 64 bit and Revit 2015 - 3D mouse drivers updated to the latest as at 26 Feb 2016 (v10.3.0 Version 3DxWinCore v17.3.0.123456)

I’m experiencing the same problem since I upgraded to 2016 in W7 and 3dconnexion drivers 10.3.0.  I will have to revert to Revit 2015 until this issue gets solved.

Here to confirm this is still an issue and a real dealbreaker for Revit 3d perspective views. 3d Navigation now only works with either the steering wheel (really?) or a very short view range. Otherwise during a long draw call revit will forget that it's being controlled by the spacemouse and you must reset the mouse to origin to begin again. On heavy models this means bad, stuttery, irritating, and sometimes impossible navigation. Given the large customer base of Revit users who rely on this product to navigate in 3d and the lack of a reasonable 3d navigation method that would be standard in other programs I am surprised nobody can offer a solution and that Autodesk remains silent.

I have the same issue but working with a main file that link one or more Revit files. When just the first file is open all works fine, but when I insert the second Revit file the navigator stops responding. This is very annoying because I bought the navigator for coordination purposes. My round around just for revisions, is to export assembly to dwfx or navisworks. In Revit sucks

Just bought space mouse wireless.

Camera view woks like a dream. But using a standard 3d view it zooms instantly to another universe #hyperblast.
The whole point of this product is to navigate in 3D. It will work for a few mins when restarting Revit but then turns to HyperBlast with even the slightest touch for zoom.

I use my mouse and revert to the standard way of rotating the model, and it works perfectly. How can it be a graphics issue if it works with the mouse..?

The zoom works on everything except 3d views.... very frustrating!!

Please help Autodesk!!

Running REVIT 2016 on Windows 10

Cheers

Seems that this forum is not from Autodesk, nobody from the company reads this posts only frustrated clients like us.

If someone out there from Autodesk, here is a hint for not responding navigation with 3D Connexion in large models:

Try to navigate in the model with 3D Connexion, but simultaneously agitate the standard mouse very fast left right. You will notice that it "works" in a jaggy way... so maybe it's a kind of interference between the two devices.

Also in small models that works smooth with 3D Connexion, if you move the other mouse you will note a small delay in the navigation.

Also, this is not a graphic card's issue, because navigation with the standard mouse is smooth

I thought I would chime in here with a post I just made in the 3dconnexion forum... I think I've at least identified some of the issues even if I haven't outright solved any of them. Knowing is half the battle though, and since there are a lot of 3dconnexion users here maybe you guys can test some of what I've said -

http://www.3dconnexion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=16736

So I just got a SpaceNavigator over the weekend, and I'm really enjoying it so far! Still getting used to it, but it's great... If 3Dconnexion could maybe work with Autodesk to push for better Revit support, I'd upgrade to the Spacemouse Enterprise in no time at all. But I digress...

After two days in a file, I still had yet to experience the "hyperblast" issue that users were reporting... I was zooming in and out just fine. Then... it happened. I'd try to zoom in, and everything would vanish. I'd zoom to fit, rotate the model, and the instant I'd nudge in a zoom direction, bam - gone.

I have always found Revit's 3D Views a bit buggy, so I took a look at the culprit of the occasional 3D View issue - Eye Elevation and Target Elevation. If you have a "working" view and you do a lot of camera movements, these numbers get completely messed up in Axo Views... they can get huge. Sometimes they get into 7+ digit territory. The culprit, I think, is zooming. If you zoom way out, the numbers change accordingly... sometimes. Hit Zoom to Fit, and they... don't. Zoom out again and you get further away. Hit Zoom to Fit and... you're still further away.

So the fix is simple... reset these values. Set the target to zero, and the eye elevation to something that makes sense for your project. Or click one of the box corners for a default view, which physically moves the camera. Just like that, you should have your full 3D Mouse zoom and orbit functionality back.

Here's the thing that I've realized that is important to remember with this device: you're always moving the camera. Even though the default setup is to make you feel like you're "moving an object in space", you're always moving the camera. So when things go sideways, have a look at your Target and Eye elevation.

All of that being said, it's still a bit messed up. I can't figure out how on earth the camera itself decides to move in an Axo view - sometimes zooming in and out doesn't move the camera at all... sometimes zooming out moves it but if you hit "zoom to fit" then it doesn't, which is how those numbers seem to get so huge. Picking an object to orbit around seems to help keep the numbers under control, and perspective views seem far, far more reliable (but still gets some wacky target elevation numbers, even with object selected to orbit around).

Hope that helps somebody that's having this issue!
