Revit 2015 Jpeg not showing in 3D

I brought a Jpeg in of a site so i can trace buildings onto it and show my pretty picture to my bosses.  However when i went into 3D to view all of my awesome work, alas the only information that i saw it what i had drawn in revit ( walls, slabs, model lines etc.)

Is there a way i can make my Jpeg viewable in 3D?

Also, when is Revit going to fix this seeminly simple issue, images not showing in 3D, AND why Revit still does not let you import PDF's!!! seems so oldschool to still limit PDF use in Revit, sorry venting session complete!

I appreciate your help greatly!

you can make it visible in 3d view  using Decal . It will be visible in Visual Styles : Realistic and Ray Trace and in rendered image ( an Adjust Exposure could be necessary).

  • First make a Component > Model in Place > a Generic Model in order to use its upper face for applieng the Decal...
  • make a New Decal with your image
  • Place the Decal to the upper face
