Revit 2009 Fatal error problem

Anytime I try to split faces with my revit 2009 I get a ' fatal error revit will shutdown' message. How do I solve did problem. I use windows 10. On a dell latitude e6410

Perhaps update to a version that is still supportable?  2009 has been unsupported for quite a while.

Also, don't use split face.    If I remember right 2009 was prone to crashing with it.
