Revisions

On the face of it, the revisions tool is really useful, but I think it misses the mark slightly in efficiency.

Having to create a revision entry for multiple sheets with different notes (i.e. in the same drawing issue you'd need a different note on plan and elevation sheets because "internal wall moved" isn't applicable to elevations).

I think it would be more useful to have a revision entry in the manage revisions dialogue that has the date of the revision and in place of the revision note there would be a comments section to note down what has changed in the model, and then you'd apply that revision date to drawings in the same way you do now by adding it to the sheet but then you'd be able to add a specific revision note to each sheet, with the option to choose from revision notes on sheets of the same issue date.

I think you misunderstanding the purpose of revisions.

They are not meant to describe what is changed in each drawing.

You should be using them to indicate an issuance, i.e. Issued for Client Review, Issued for Tender, Issued for Addendum 1, Issued for Layout Updates, etc..

Then you apply the revision to the sheet that has views that are updated for that revision.

If you need a description of what exactly each revision cloud indicates then you can use the revision cloud schedule (added in 2024) and add the comment parameter for the description.

Then check filter by sheet and place the schedule on each sheet with  revision.

Thank you Mike, it seems 2024 is rammed with good features.
Our office unfortunately are pretty set in the revision protocol we've adopted but I think there might be a way to integrate rev cloud schedules. We've come up against push back on revision clouds previously from clients and contractors who see them as distracting and have asked for them to be removed...

I'm with @Mike.FORM on this. Your approach is unconventional. (I cannot understand how revision clouds which indicate the area(s) that have been changed are not being used.)

Many places that had long established standards of a variety of types have had to adapt their workflows to work with Revit when they made the switch from AutoCAD or other progams to Revit.

If your sector is likely to staty with your current standard, you will have to come up with a revision schedule that suits your needs which might mean you will lose some automation that Revit provides.

We will almost always issue an "Issued for Construction" set that incorporates all the revisions made during tender or permit and have all the bubbles turned off.
