Is there a way to retain(keep) the selected design option when binding a linked revit file.
I am copying the same linked revit file which has few options. I know how to change the design options for each copied instance through VG. But I want to bind the linked files and keep the selected design option. When I bind liknked file with the selected design option, it will revert back to the primary design option in the linked revit file.
So is there a way to make a design option primary within a linked revit instance or is there a way to retain the selected design option when binding?
What about just making the Design Option -- that you want to Bind with the Link -- the Primary one in the Link? You can always reverse it.
Hi Bradley
Yes that is the workaround that I follow. The only issue is that when I have few copies of the the same file and each have different options, I would have to bind one. then open the linked file, make the next option primary, save and close the file, go to manage links & reload the linked file and do this process for all the design options. What I am looking for is a faster method and an efficient method so that I can train the rest of the staff to follow.
But thanks heaps for your reply.
This thread should go to Revit Ideas to implement this in the next update. It's a vital functionality when working with a large quantity of Revit links and needs to bind them with their design option(s).
Has this been sovled / integrated yet? It's awkward when the bound link reverts to the (primary) design option rather than the option selected.
Hey everyone, I've just added this idea to the ideas forum. Please go upvote it so Autodesk will know this is an important issue.
