Reporting instance parameters

What is the point of these parameters?

For the sake of an experiment, I created a metric generic model faced based with two types of instance parameters. One case had the box "reporting" tick and the other not. If I use the parameter with the box ticked, the family can't be stretched in the project. But if I use both, the family can be stretched.

I tied the "reporting" parameter to the geometry of the generic model and the instance parameter tied to reference planes. They work very well together. But, neither one shows up on the schedules.

Can someone explain how to get either one of those parameters to show up on the schedule?

Regards

Jacques

Only shared parameters can be scheduled.

Have look at THIS page on the knowledge Autodesk website. It has information about creation of custom family content. This might help you furhter with the understanding of family creation.

Yes, it's a shared parameter you want.  Reporting parameters are used to provide a value for a dimension that if it were a normal parameter would over constraint the family.
