is there a way I can manipulate a detail component that would allow me to replace a non-line based component with a line based detail component? over the course of learning Revit, we've obviously had a few different people making detail components, and as I try to simplify our drawings to find the best of the best, I have over 200 instances of a non-line based gyp board that i'd like to replace with the line based version, and Revit 2019 is telling me I can't do it. I thought i'd outsmart it, and even tried to bring in a new component family with the same name as the one one I wanted to replace, but Revit knew that component was not created the same way, and still gave me an error and wouldn't do it. anyone else have a trick for me?
I would create the line based detail component from scratch. Here's a link to a video I made demonstrating how it can be done for plates and headers. https://youtu.be/QwGzpsVSn1s
Ohh....That wasn't clear to me from your post. I can't help you there. I haven't found a way to replace one detail component with another of a different family template. Sorry
I'm glad you loved it.
Sure, why not...you are using 2019 though, right? You won't be able to open it. I'm 2021
hI zeulrick, your youtube video link for demonstrating building a line based family, is no longer active, are you able to repost? it was a great video and i'd like to create the section family that you created in the video. (my current project is Revit 2019). thanks!
