Repetition and Editing

I have a large plan scheme and one plot repeats all over it. See image attached.

I would like to place it within several grids

but I  would also like to see all amendments in one to be repeated in the other copies, same as we used to have in cad with block editing..

Which is the best way to do it?

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

You can use grouping, group the repetition,

I think that will solve the problem.

Yes I agree with JvHardeveld group one portion of your model and copy over to another grid any changes in your main group and the copy group will be changed. Thanks

Since you are having a large plan scheme, a group might not be a suitable option. You will have problems in common elements such as walls, and their hosted elements such as doors. I believe you will see lot of "Fix group" errors.

I would create the typical area as 1 rvt file (let's call it typical.rvt). Then start a new rvt file, draw the datum such as grids and levels, then link typical.rvt

You can then copy the link as many times within your project.

Note that you can't modify the link from main file, you will need to open typical.rvt - So if you are planning to exclude items in some of the repeated plots, you should open original file, create view template or hide elements there. Then in the main project you can use "by linked view" for the link. Every instance of the link that is repeated in your project can have different view settings.
