Renumber Column Grids

Is there a way to renumber column grids?    Just cliking on them results in a haphazard search for numbers not yet assigned.    Can you make a schedule of col line designation values as a work-around, at least to see what #/letters are already used.

You can make a schedule for grids.

There is an add-in but its $245 / year.  That's a lot of column grid re-numbering's worth.

I am a DELIGHTED user of the CADdaddy suite of Revit 2019 tools, whose Renumber Items tool will renumber any kind of annotation that has a numerical or alphabetic sequence: doors, rooms, grids, etc.  Just start picking them in the order you want them numbered, and the add-in does the rest. The new  CADdaddy tools for Revit 2020 cost a mere $20, and an upgrade from the 2019 version is -- get this -- six bucks. Can't beat that, and it comes with the invaluable Hide in Views tool, as well:

In fact, this post spurred me to buy the 2020 Version just now, and I find that it has a new specific Renumber Doors tool that uses the room number as the root of the new door number. Ahhh...!

These are both in the Autodesk app store and directly at CADdaddy.com.

HOW DOES THIS HELP RENUMBER GRIDS? YOU STILL CAN'T CHANGE A GRID TO A NUMBER YOU'VE USED.

Change the existing grid 1 a to a different number such as 99 then change grid 2 to 1, then change 99 to 2.

You don't need a schedule to do it that way. I thought we were looking for
a way to do it efficiently.

I wasn't the one proposing to use a schedule, but it is not a bad idea to have one because you can see all grids in one table collectively for a better planning at renumbering them.
