Rendering Materials Copper

Hello Revit Forum,

Id like to render my design today and for the walls I thought about making them look like the attached picture. Would I be able to do that in Revit and Dynamo? Or would I need to have a different approach?

I tried looking for Revit materials looking similar to that in the pic but I havent had any luck so far, so my guess is that I have to make them myself?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello,

Its look like this material have patern form.

I think you can make it in Revit without Dynamo.

Just go in internet find similar material or create in in photoshop ( i prefer to create my materials, because i set them to be perfect ).

When you have raster image ( picture) on your materiat just go in Revit and create a new material ... set you raster image and voila you have your material.

On posted picture i see that this render have a custom settings or mb material have high reflection settings. For same effect you must set refflection to your material too . This is option in revit material creator and you no need to create refflection in photoshop.

Good luck

Merry Christmas and happy new year

Thanks for your reply! 🙂

So you're saying I should create the materials in Photoshop? I have never done that 😄 Ill do that if I still have some time left. I have to hand in my project on tuesday >.<'
SO if id find the materials in the internet dont I have to make the solid wals into some sort of panels to get the same effect?`Because right now I just have solid walls.
And on the picture the panels each have a different reflection/colour depending on the lighting.

Another method beside using a raster image, could be using a Procedural Map :

In this case you can create a new material using as base , for instance, Copper. Then from Appearance > Metal Type - choose from a serie of metals as Copper, Brass, Bronze,..and so on. Then Relief Pattern > Tiles > Texture Editor >Pattern > Type  > Custom - you have here a lot of settings ( for Tile Count, Tile Appearance, Grout Appearance, Scale, and so on...)

This Procedural Map allows a lot of effects (depends of the user's skill), and can be  also used in 3ds MAX ( if the Revit file is exported into 3dsMax it is rcognized).

The drawback of this method is that Autodek 360 Cloud Rendering , at present moment, doesn't support Procedural Maps

WOW!!! That looks amazing and is exaxctly what ive been looking for!! Thank you so much!

Did you make the Textute yourself or did you find it one the internet?

Would I be able to use mulitple Tints or just one for the whole wall?

Because as you can see on the attached fotos theres some green, some purple etc in there.

Thanks again. Amazing 😄

EDIT: Nvm I found the texture. But I didnt manage to get the setting quite like yours.

I've made a screencast in which I have shown how you can play with settings when using a Procedural Map. You have to note some good settings in order to use them later in your projects. In my screencast I forgot to show how to made perforations...You have to activate Cutouts ( you have here a lot of options including Custom that allows your one shapes to be used as cutter shape)

Wow. Thank you so much! That is just awesome! 😄 So if id like an interesting floor relief I would just apply the same but then to a different material.

Ive attached a picture of one of my results. I noticed that you have some flatter cells and mine tend to bulge and concave. Even though I put all the same setting as you. Except for the scaling because if I follow your suit my surface just becomes flat. You put it in 1600mm and 600mm I believe and mine is already set to 0.3m and 0.3 m

Thanks again for your screencast. Really helpfull.

Please dont delete! 😉
