I'm using revit 2019 have some rendering issues 1. In master bedroom render the commode is highly reflective like glass..I can't seem to fix it 2. The light outside (left side of the pic window) is to bright...can that be fixed? 3. Kitchen - I have a oak floor but I get these strange circular reflections? 4. on 3dview 14 the floor is in different colors?..almost as something is overlayed? The commode has a material assigned to it. any help is greatly appreciated

Hi @Anonymous

Can you please post a screenshot of your render settings?

Confirm if you have the latest updates installed for your Revit version.

Hi @Anonymous

To make sure that the issue you are seeing is not something already fixed in one of the product updates, I would suggest checking the Desktop App to see if there are any Revit updates available. For information on using the Desktop App see the following article: About the Autodesk Desktop App

Note: If you are not able to download updates through the Desktop App, the following article has information on downloading updates through the Autodesk Accounts page:
Install Updates, Add-ons, and Enhancements

Thanks for sharing the family and settings, will investigate further and let you know!

Regards,

Ok thx...I just installed the latest update..but it seems the problem still persists. I swapped out the commode with a different one and got a similar problem..reflection is not as bad but still visible.

As I can see in your family there are two parameters that are involved in this:

  • Glosiness
  • and Reflectivity

they have to be decreased

...and, try to use a wood default setting as in my screenshot.

Make your material using as base a wood material from material library and make a duplicate that has your settings.

There you can control the wood finish aspect.

Hi Constantin, thx for the reply and suggested solution...I followed your steps but it still comes out almost unchanged...I'm not sure where or what I did wrong. Your solution makes sense but why is it still coming out in gray and reflective? I'm posting some screenshots so you can see. I'll keep trying... Thx

you are using a Semi Gloss Varnish . Try Unfinished or Satin Varnish

I'm using revit 2019 have some rendering issues

  1. In master bedroom render the commode is highly reflective like glass..I can't seem to fix it

… this is in part because you are rendering in DRAFT mode.

… you need to render it at least in HIGH or BEST to get a better more real result

  1. The light outside (left side of the pic window) is to bright...can that be fixed?

…. Off course you can fix it

… click your light and edit the properties ... of the light

..... or if "the light" is the SUN

.... you can change the hour, day, position to get to the desire effect

  1. Kitchen - I have a oak floor but I get these strange circular reflections?

… again… is because you are rendering in the wrong setting (draft instead of high or best)

  1. on 3dview 14 the floor is in different colors?..almost as something is overlayed? The commode has a material assigned to it.

…. Can you apload the .rvt to take a look ?

.... when rendering in DRAFT your materials get shinier

... take a look at this sample in DRAFT

.... and this in BEST (unfinished, but you can get the idea)
