Remove section of handrail

I have 3 areas on these stairs where the handrail crosses an area where people will be walking.  i have tried everything i could think of to remove the sections of handrail in that area.  I have created handrail every which way and nothing works.  any ideas?

What version?  In Revit 2019 you can split a railing and remove segments.  In older versions, you need copy paste the railing in place and edit the path for each to create the broken segments.

I'm using Revit 2018.  I have only had this problem on multi-story stair.  single run stairs work great.

Yeas for 2018 and below you need to create two or more railings.

On single level stairs i have sketched handrail on individual sides with no problems.  however, on these multi-level stairs that are in the attachment i am having a very difficult time creating two separate rails.  when i click on the railing-sketch path-pick a host  in a plan view i am having a very hard time getting the rail on the correct set of stairs. when i finally get this worked out i should have 4 different railings on these stairs.

Mission impossible.  thought so.  i have been at this for 6 hrs today with absolutely no progress.  I've tried everything i can think of to make this work.  sounds like it has maybe been addressed in 2019.  thanks for the help.

I think you deserve that solution credit too! At least you got something for those 6 hours that Revit took from your life today!

Railings on multi story stairs also need to be identical.  If the segments are varies from level to level then you are better off with a single story stair placed multiple times, then you can sketch the railing independently for each level.  Revit 2019, while it can split a railing to multiple broken segments, you would face the same problem and the workaround is probably the same.

that was my last ray of hope.  the last thing on my try list was to do exact what you mentioned.  draw individual stair sections and place them together.  it will work.  it just kind of defeats the purpose of having the option for multi-story stairs.  thanks for the help.  we can't win them all.  Thomas Edison found 2000 ways not to build a light bulb.
