Relocate Project

I'm moving my building using Relocate Project. The files linked with shared coordinates do not move. Is this the expected behaviour?

Do I need to move the links as well manually in the host file?

Is this a feature or a bug?

If the links and/or any element are using shared positioning; Revit will treat those links/elements as if they are pinned in place. You cannot move them.

Elements/Links pinned by shared coordinates, will have their names appended with "Pinned by Shared Positioning". This suffix displays on the status bar and in the drawing area when you move the cursor over an element or link ...Such elements/links cannot be moved or unpinned.

Hope this answers your question

Thanks for the insight.

But what is the correct method for relocating a project with links?

Everyone relocates their own model?

Stop sharing coordinates, relocate project then start sharing again?

It strikes me that the model driving the coordinates should be able to repostion the links by re-sharing coordinates...somehow...

You are able to reposition the links when the host project republish the coordinates to the linked projects...

You asked if its normal and I just meant to say that yes it is a normal behavior what you experienced considering that there are several factors which may cause it and there several variable which one needs to check when repositioning fail...One of which is those links/elements being pinned; survey points being clipped...etc

I'm really sorry I can't give a definit answer.... I don't know the nature of the linked files which you refered to! Are you working on the local and where are the links (I would assume on the central - ideal to be)? did you check the linked instance properties in the host file? were the coordinate (supposedly shared) publish correctly and the links got updated? I can't be really sure what is going on on your side

I could have missed out on something...maybe one of the guys on the forum can share with us some thoughts on the matter

I agree with the poster above that this behavior sounds to be as expected.

The following document might help:

Suggested workflow with shared coordinates in Revit

As mentioned in the above document, if you need to move the links you would do so in the host file, and then save those locations back to the links.
