Hello Everyone
It may be useful to explain the reason behind my inability to relate the existing individual toposurface points to the building's floor level.
I originally documented said building and as part of that process brought in the imported the survey and created the existing toposurface from the file. I then edited the new topo and finished the documents. generally I set the levels up early in the process and raise or lower them to suit the topo, (I generally don't touch survey and project base points and it works for me before you start lecturing).
It doesn't work so well when the client's site purchase falls through and they go with another site with AHD's (above sea level) approximately 9.2 metres lower and the building mirrored. Okay mirror project - check, bring in the new survey dwg - check.
Now I don't want to have to re document 12+ A1 sheets more than I have to so let's try moving the project base point up 9.2m, all good, floor levels OK and documentation intact. now I'll create toposurface from the survey file - it all works fine. Now I'll start to bench up my site.... wait a moment these points are giving levels 9.2 higher than they should. Physically the topo is in the right place with respect to the model, and I'm sure the tags I put on it will give correct figures relative to the project base point, but... grading the site is going to put me in therapy or the pc through the window!
I wonder if I should have built the topo before moving the project base?
Any ideas
