Refresher tutorials

Hi all,

I've been away from Revit for a number of years. My career path took a different direction, but now I'm back. I have a stand alone version (2009) which is about to be dusted off and brought back to life. Before anyone suggests it, I wont be able to upgrade to the latest version for some time!

Could someone suggest a suitable refresher tutorial that I can download to bring me back up to speed please?

Many thanks in advance.

I'm under the impression that one of the best <beginner to intermediate> video tutorials are published by Infinite Skills. The author is Brian Myers. As you go deeper, I would suggest Autodesk help before everything.

I don't know about what would be best for the Revit version that you have though.... Maybe some1 knows....

Revit has changed quite a lot since 2009:

  • stairs
  • railings
  • annotation for floors and beams
  • view settings
  • create parts
  • create assemblies
  • displaced views
  • room location points for elements

To just name a few.

Not to mention there's no backwards compatibility. So if you receive a file from 2016/2017/2018 you won't be able to open it.

You should look into a demo version of Revit 2017/2018 or find out if maybe you can rent a license for several months.

I suspected as much Kimtaurus and thank you for your advice. However, at this time my sole aim is to get back to basics and expand from there. As a stand alone designer, I would rarely review designs from others (not to say I wouldn't). I am also on a tight budget and as that grows I'll upgrade with a full susbscription renewal then.

Thanks again for a very helpful reply.
