Referencing common details in related projects

I have got two separate (but related - they are parts of the same building) projects that employ a lot of common details. Currently, they have set up a blank  detail sheet that tells the contractor to look at Detail X on Sheet Y.  Not a very elegant or efficient solution, to my mind. Is there any way to reference the common details from the related project? Are there any workarounds that can be used?

Hi @Sahay_R

One option would be to set up a separate project with these common details and link it to your main Project.

Or you could create reference callouts and set those views to By Linked View

Thank you, @Viveka_CD! I think that the By Linked View option will serve us best. The AU handout that you mentioned will come in handy for a fortcoming project, where we see something like this happening.

@Viveka_CD - Actually, I did attend this session at AU2017. I don't think that this approach will be very successful with the way that we work.

So back to the drawing board, now.....

Hi @Sahay_R

I'm wondering if we have information in this regard, let me scan through and get back to you.

Thanks for pointing that out - can you post the link to that course when you have a chance?

Very true. But doesn't work with the way we work.

@Sahay_R Hmm, I see what you are saying.

Is there anything you can suggest - maybe a workflow, let it be in theory for now and we can work on it together.

A couple of things about the project - they are similar / identical buildings, which means that in addition to details we are talking about things like wall sections. Building #1 documents are under way. Getting prepped for common details to be added to the remaining buildings would be a part of what we would need to think of.
