Reference Plane Subcategory

Hi

I just found this page by Autodesk on creating Reference Planes Subcategories.

Only, on step 2, I am not seeing <Create New Subcategory>.

I am working in Revit2017. Could it be that this functionality is only for later versions?

Thanks

According to this article about reference planes, they are introduced in 2017.

Maybe they are only available via manage > objectstyles

Click on New (2) under Modify Subcategories .

Should be able to find it right on the Ribbon pulldown. Don't need to go into Object Styles before hand.

You can also access this from the Properties Palette as the article mentions. But doing it this way, the subcategory has to be created first in the object styles dialog.

The only reason I could imagine would be because you are using a version of Revit prior to this functionality existing. It looks like this was a 2018 feature (NOT 2017 as mentioned in the one article linked above.) So if you are on a version older than 2018 that is why you are not getting the option.

I would check and see if you are on the most recent build of at least 2018. I can't remember if perhaps that functionality was release mid year, so maybe you are on the right year but don't have the update installed?
