Reference Plan not Plotting?

I need to print out some drawings to markup in the field but can't get the reference plane to print. I've turned on the (show) reference plane and set the spacing for 5' grid. It all shows correctly on my screen and I've unchecked the Hide ref/work planes in the print dialog box. I've also switched between vector processing and Raster processing trying to get the reference plane to print but can't print it. I've tried printing to a laser printer and also to a Adobe PDF file but the reference plan won't print. Is there a setting or something I'm not doing right?

I think you are mixing up two things.

You mention that you turned on show reference plane. However I think you turned on show work plane.

In the screenshot hereunder I have a reference plane (1) and shown the work plane (2)

You can print out reference planes (with the setting in print menu). However (as far as I know) you can not print out work plane.

You can consider to create a grid with reference planes or for example use a grid or some other method.

If you think it would be beneficial, you can post your idea in the Revit Ideas section.

Louis, Thanks for the reply, and I am talking a could different commands.BTW, thanks for the graphics. It make things much clearer. But I KNOW that I have printed out the work plane onto a floor plan so I would know the distance as I was sketching the existing conditions. Actually I did find in my files a print of a drawing (attached) showing the work plane at 5'-0" spacing. So, unless Autodesk got rid of the option to print the work plane then it may still be possible. Just not sure how to do it. I've tried everything I can think of. Dave

I've tried to attach a copy of the drawing that shows the work plane on the print but for some reason it isn't attaching. I chose the file and the filename appears in the box but when I click 'Add Attachment' nothing happens. I'd like to show that it is, or was possible at one time.

You are correct.  I was able to print the workplane grid in Revit 2013 but not in 2017.

Hum,, that was a very useful feature. Why would Autodesk get rid of it?

They are just being Autodesk I guess...

You can submit the request to have it back in the Idea Station forum that Louis has provided in his reply.

Maybe you are using firefox? This happened to me sometimes when using firefox. Also some browser plugins might break the process

If it is a picture you try to upload, then you also can load it in you post directly

So does anyone know if there is a work around for this? I've tried the IFC route to be able to save the Revit file to an older R14 version but the file would take too long to clean up and use. Surely there must be a switch in the software or something to turn back on this feature in R16.

Enlint had a good workaround suggestion in his post on 9/6

Also, please consider posting to  Revit Ideas

This is the method to use if you want to get a feature implemented (or perhaps restored) in Revit. Others can vote for your idea.
