Hello all
Hoping someone can help, I have used Revit for about 3.5 years now and never come across this before. The standard Revit downlight recessed can light fitting is for some reason appearing in sections, 3Ds etc due to its being extremely elongated in one axis. Initially I thought it may be the light source symbol length, which I drastically reduced to no effect. When you open the family for editing it all appears normal; I have also tried turning everything off in the Visibility/Graphics settings for the family itself with no improvement. I have attached a few screenshots for clarity.
Has anyone come across this before or does anyone know of a fix please? Aside from turning light fixtures off in all the view templates, which would be kind of counter productive, or manually hiding them in the views they appear in, which would be labour intensive and prone to errors, I am going to have to revert to having simplistic 2D circles to show where the lights are. Luckily at this stage of the project and with this client the light fittings do not actually have to be modelled but I am hoping to get some help with this issue anyway for current and future reference?
Many thanks in advance
Georgina

The cylinder height is not constrained properly. It should either be a locked dimension or associated with a dimension type parameter.
Hi ToanDN,
Thank you, that seems to have done the trick. You would have thought it being a standard Revit family these things would have been set up correctly!
Hi, I know this is an old thread and I'm quite new to Revit. I seem to be having the same issue with my recessed lights. is there any way you can walk me through the steps to correct this issue? I am using Revit 2022.
Thanks in advance
Edit the family and check for the reference plane which controls the Height and the reference plane defining family origin
Otherwise, how about you start a new post and attach the light family you are using and a screen shot showing it in section or elevation
