Hi,
I have a floor plan and am using Realistic Visual Style. For some reason the shadow is only showing on the lower right half of the plan. If I choose Top View from 3D Views, it works properly.
Could someone please confirm whether this is a bug or suggest a way to fix? Thanks.
untick extends from the properties and check if there is assigned view template set to none
There is no View Template applied. I don't know what you mean by 'untick extends' (edit: all 'Extents' boxes are unchecked). This was created in an empty file from the Architectural Template. The shadow seems to be cut diagonally across the plan, such that railings, etc. don't cast for the upper left area. See below. The shadows work fine in Top View, or on the floor plan using Shaded View. The issue is that I want objects with transparency to cast shadows as well. Thanks.
Turn off Ambient Shadows.

Then I'm not clear on what the issue is that you are describing. You say that 3D and Floor Plan have different shadowing, but they have different settings, so I don't know how you can compare them.
Worked here. You can see so in my Screenshot above.
Trying changing your Sun Settings. Those are different between your 3D and Plan View as well.
From your screenshot it appears as though it didn't work either. The slabs under northern sheds are much lighter than southern shed, and there is still a diagonal shadow just under the red arrow.
is there a reason your Roof category is set to 100% transparent in that view?

I appreciate your time. Selecting/Hiding the Lawn Floor moves the cut further north, through the northern sheds, but doesn't fix the problem. I thought it might be my graphics card (3060ti) and/or driver, but since you are having the same problem, it must be a bug. I assume it's due to the size of the plan. Will post again if I find a solution.
The roof category is set to transparent to show shadows on floors beneath. I'm a landscape architect, so the materials under verandahs etc. are relevant to the design and shadows are relevant to planting (and look good). I will probably turn it down from 100%.
I am seeing what you see, I have no explanation. It has something to do with the Floor though. Remove the Floor and all is well. Crazy. Maybe someone else can figure it out.
Even if I delete all floors and cast onto ground plane, not working properly for me. The shadow cut just changes location:
It's a bummer because I get other weird rendering issues in 3D Top View that I don't on a floor plan. See below.
Edit: Actually I do get those rendering issues in Floor Plan view.
may or may not help... but if you trace out where the shadow limits are you get a perfect rectangle. the shadows are only inside that rectangle. I can't think of anything in Revit that would restrict that though.

Maybe you can you textures instead of realistic for the site plan. I would just use 3d top view if I need proper shadow presentation.
