Hello,

Now my building pad and the floor in my lower level are in the same elevation.

Normally were we create the building pad?

In my case I have the floor , the slab , and the insulation [ see the attchment].

Thank you in advance!

a building pad is a lot like a mouse pad... not much good if it get wet.

A building pad is a tool to create a build-able, more often than not, a flat area for the building or other structure to sit on.  I consider it more of a site preparation component rather than a building component so I normally don;t use it as the building slab.   But there is nothing saying it cannot be used as one.  If your building has mat slabs you can use building pads for them.

exactly Toan... the building pad is always something that is prepared during sitework, before any construction begins.  You wouldnt even send in a surveyor to stake a footing before your grader came in to prep the site (create the building pad). I would imagine that if you started to call your slabs your building pad, you would encounter come confusion in the field.

In Revit ( and perhaps the actual job site ), the Building Pad would represent the "sub-grade" or compacted fill under your concrete slab.

Bottom of building pad to be equal to excavation level.

so usually I use it instead of blinding concrete.

Consider modelling in revit as the process you will follow in actual construction.

1. Create a building pad for the entire building envelope, excavation they will do as per actual

2. then create foundation, floors, footings modelled as per actual construction.

3. the soil you excavation, now you will need another topography / soil to fill the gaps.

you may model the new topography to fill the soil, new elvations etc or just you may use fill region in section

to show the earth...

( hardcore revit users would model each and every element as per construction o that it shows correctly in

sections, elevations, 3d view.. and thats the whole point of BIM / Revit modelling..

Cheers!

Hello,

If I remove the building pad down from the building and make it only around from the building, the toposurface exceed the lower floor of my building.

But if I make the building pad also down from the building I will have 'two' floors.

Any suggestion?

Thank you im advance!

But if building pad is compacted earth, why should not it would be for whole site. Again if it is made of concrete what would be its relation with footing, columns, floors? What would be the structural details and its effect on load calculation?
