re-arrange items in a schedule by mark

Hi,

We design and manufacture Park Homes. While we are populating the project with various families - electrical switches, sockets etc - no marks are added to these items.

When its time to schedule them out for our purchasing team, we need produce a schedule that is ordered by room, then have to manually edit the mark numbers so they follow on sequentially.

Is there a way this could be automated using Dynamo for example - each project may have 10 or so schedules that need to be re-ordered...

Thanks

Not sure what you want Dynamo to do. Sounds like you are saying the Schedule is Sorted by "Mark" and you want Dynamo to change the Mark value of all the Fixtures in the Project so they will sort differently in the Schedule. Is that about the size of it? If so, why sort the Schedule by Mark?  Why not make the Fixtures Room-Aware and sort by a Room Parameter since you say "we need produce a schedule that is ordered by room"?

All the items are complete with room calculation points, but the marks are created in the order they were added to the project. So if for example a designer adds a power point in one room, then copies it to other areas and into other rooms, the marks for each item reflect the insertion order not the schedule order.
There are also multiple types for power points - single, double - with or without USB features.. so unless they are added in the correct order then the schedule will need re sequencing..

Yes, I get how Marks work.  My question was why sort the Schedule by the Mark Parameter if the sorting criteria based on Room.  That's how I read: "we need produce a schedule that is ordered by room".

It would help my understanding if you could explain how you are determining the new Mark value now?

Add Room information from Field tab to your schedule and sort by Room name and or number
