Railings

I have a cast in place concrete stair on top of a modelled in place stair component. I would like to extend the railing from the revit stair to component stair, but it does not follow the slope. I did not break the railing path until hitting the bottom extension (you can see the break in the railing in the view). I also cant pick multiple hosts or can I?

Any help would be appreciated. Railings-stairs.jpg

Assuming that your model-in-place stairs are at the same slope as your CIP stair, then all you need to do is extend the railing sketch without breaking it. No need to add an additional stair.  The railing will host to the upper portion of the stair. See attached images.

I would have  expected this result, but unfortunately have not been able to just extend the stair. It extends flat. Slopes are the same. I used the property riser/tread dimensions in my model-in-place. Still flat. I did your first option though and for SD, this works. I'll redo the whole thing and see if it works then.

Thanks.

You don't want to extend the stair. You need to extend the railing. In my sample, the stair was a simple single run stair. The Model-In-Place stair was a sweep. I drew the shape of the stair in an elevation to create the risers and treads. The sweep path was used to create the width.

The railing was the default railing that gets generated when the stair was created. I simply went into plan and edited the path of the railing (stretched) so it is one foot past the bottom of the MIP stair.

Sincerely,

Andy

I think the problem is there is already a split landing. When I edit railing and "extend" the line of the bottom railing, it goes flat regardless.
