Railings are automatically placed incorrectly on ramps.

Hi,

I'm setting up the new template for a firm and I noticed something odd when trying to set the standard ramps. The same railing type works different on a ramp and stair. All the railings work correctly on stairs and when sketching non-hosted rails. But when I make a ramp, the rails are automatically drawn to the incorrect side. I can't see any way to make them work the same way as for the stairs.

Is this a glitch or am I missing something? Se the attached image.

I would not worry about this if my task at hand were to make a template. You're doing the template. The end user will be working on design and construction documents. If the end user sees that the handrail is on the opposite side, he or she is responsible for using the "flip" control of the railing to make it be oriented in the correct way, and that the railing meets code, etc., etc...  Notice that, by default, Revit puts the path of the railnig centered on the edge of the ramp. Is that the correct way? No, the post of the railing will be either on top of the ramp or attached to the side face. So the designer has to work on the desing, not the computer. Don't worry about these things; the designer will take care of that. You need to provide them with other things, not design solutions.

Thanks for your reply Alfredo. It's a fair point you have and true. However, the same argument can be had for stairs. It is a shame it isn't preset like with a stair as it can reduce 2 clicks per ramp. I have people moving to revit from other softwares (namely Bentley) and they are generally very critical of things that don't make sense or work properly in Revit :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

Anyway, Thanks and I will accept it as it is for now. :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:
