Railings Across Several Levels

Hi All,

I have to place some rails on the stairs across several levels as in the below snapshot. To create the stairs I just used voids, not the stair tool. What is the best approach, do I need to create levels at the various landings?

Regards

Phil

Hi Phil,

Best way to correct this, is to use multistorey stairs.

What you did is not very efficient. Try to use the Revit predefined families to draw stairs, railings and so on. That way you also take advantage of the BIM-idea. Right now you created 'dumb' objects, if you would have used the Revit-stairs you could also extract data from the stair objects.

You didn't use the Stair Tool? Why?  Seems like a pretty conventional Monolithic Stair.  You could pump those out all day long without even breaking a sweat by using the Stair Tool.  You could even incorporate the railing into the Stair Type.  Two birds with one stone modeling -- so to speak.  Smiley (zwinkernd)

...took roughly 15 seconds to do this one. I'm pooped.

Ok thanks, I will have a play around with it, might have to watch a few tutorials on U-Tube.
