Railing family conversion to face based components

Greetings:

After struggling for days trying to create proper residential stairs I've given up on automatic railing creation due to it not planing correctly at the intersection of two runs.

I did manage to create the stairs with all the correct offsets but had to delete the railings.

I would like to place the railing components manually and want to know if there is a way to convert the railing families to something like a face based component.

Thanks

Have you tried to place single runs of railing, and connecting the fiddly parts with modeled in place geometry?

All esle failing - please share the stair and railing.

I did try making separate stair runs/railings and combining them but then had problems creating the landings (strange supports around the landings).

The stairs and railings are ok except for baluster placement at the beginning of each run. It's due to how the baluster patterns work. I would prefer a pattern where the first two baluster spacings can be set then the remaining balusters use a third setting, but that's not how the patterns work.

I can live with it. It's a minor issue.

Any thoughts concerning baluster placement will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi

Quick and easy workaround for Railing are.

Have Two Railing types.

Type 1 ( start from whatever offset you want ) and create in parts as per flights and landing.

Type 2 ( start from whatever offset you want ) and create in parts as per flights and landing.

and use them to create railing using stairs..

its not compulsory to have all the design implemented in one railing..

though its possible and need some tweaking..

another example.

Balcony Railing.. GLASS Panels, Metal Tube Handrails..

you can combine ( place two railings at the same place ) to achive in easy way..

Type 1 - GLASS Panels

Type 2 - Metal Tube Handrails..

You may use Costum curtain walls to create railing, easy to put panel design, easy to edit profile,

and can be reference line based ( you were looking for face based, this can be a solution )

Hope that helps..
