Hi,
This question is regarding modifying balusters, railings and profiles that are in a revit project file.
They aren't normal families so they don't have the option of "Edit Family" like other families. So is there a way to edit them?
Thanks for any help provided.

Hello, can you give some sample of what are the things you need to edit the default railing in Revit. You can Duplicate the type and edit the railing as you wanted it to be. Thanks
You may find some samples for Stairs and railing...
try to edit them as per your requirement..
What I mean is, say you create a glass baluster panel in a baluster panel family and insert it to a project, you can change its width, height, interval when its used in a railing set up, but you can't change its material unless you've still got that baluster panel family file you originally created it in.
I'm just wondering if you can somehow get to its family file from the project file that it's been uploaded to.
All existing and new families created are in the Project Browser > Families, just search for it in their categories. Thanks
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
Yes I'm aware that I can see the profiles and panels and posts in the Project Browser, but typically for other family types, I can create an instance of them, click on them, go to the modify tab and click on edit family to go to their respective family files. I'm curious to know if there is a way for this to happen for profiles and baluster elements that have been loaded into a project file.
Thanks.
Go to the Project Browser > Families > Railings > Right-click on the family (not the type) and choose Edit
This will open the family and you can edit it.
Hi,
I have encountered problem of railing and baluster panel not attaching together. I have tried to modify the distance between baluster and the reference plane in baluster panel family, but to no avail. May I know what solution can use to fix this error? Massive thanks!
Add a new railing
you can add multiple railing at different heights
example railing 1 at 300mm offset
railing 2 at 1000mm offset
give panel constrain from railing 1 to railing 2
railing can have vertical and horizontal offset as well so align it with the panel on plan.
thats it
