We recently upgraded to Revit 2024 but I'm presently thinking that's a bad idea for the office as my first file that I've made in 2024 has lost the ability to save. The icon spins and the header ends in "...(not responding). I've lost work but worse than that It looks like I will loose even more because there's no way to move forward with this file. There's also no way to save it as a 2022 file because autodesk INTENTIONALLY MAKES REVIT BACKWARDS-INCOMPATIBLE.
I've tried auditing the file. It loads, but again every time I try to save, it churns and churns until I click on the screen and it grays out and at the top says it's not responding.
you only should have lost 15 minutes of work if you save every 15 minutes.... what are you saving to (noetwork drive, local drive...) and do you use central model or what exactly?
If you upgraded from 2022 and once it converted to 2024, did you save immediately after converting and did that work? If it already didn't work then, then you could just go back to 2022 and use that 2022 file.
Can you try different projects, or re-install R2024? You want to find out if it is your Revit installation, or the project file causing this.
Here why it is not possible to be backwards-compatible:

FWIW, R2024 work perfectly fine for me and I save to a Newtwork drive.
