R2019 Sheet List abilities

Hello

When I started in R2009 we were taught to schedule the "Cable Try Fittings" or some such elements that we would never use to make our "Dummy Sheet Lists" for all of the other Disciplines that need to still be on our title sheet.  Here I am 10 years later faking over a hundred sheets from our consultants that need to be hand entered.  It seem like this should have been accommodated years ago, and I just missed the memo.

Please bring me up to speed on this issue.  What is the recommended way to include all of our consultants sheets in our master sheet list.  Please include the inevitable case of some consultants using a non Revit software.

Thank You very much.

You could link the files in, create sheet list and check include elements in links. However, getting them all filtered, grouped and ordered properly is a whole new level of headaches. I myself just create a sheet index, add placeholder rows manually, and paste information from their list.

I am sure if you search long enough you will find some add-ins to do it.

And no, using a fake schedule has been long gone since they introduced adding rows to sheet index (2012 I think).

Yes, as Toan said, use Placeholder Sheets. Trying to manage the process using linked files is a nightmare because your consultants are never going to use the same parameters that you want to use.

If you know Dynamo scripting, it is possible to use an Excel file as the input to create Placeholder Sheets. Add all your data to the Excel file, then use Dynamo to create the placeholders and push the data into the elements. This is worthwhile in the long run as you can use the same process on many projects. A few things have changed in Dynamo since this video was made, but it gets the point across.
