"Rotate with Section" box in the line properties in grayed-out (section family editing)

I've seen a post on Reddit about this with no answer and I'm aware that 2021 now allows text to be rotated in section tags, but this is concerning those still using older version of Revit.

When editing the OTB section bubble family, it seems to have a center line between the numbers that has a mysterious parameter in "other" called "rotate with section" that is grayed-out. This line can by copied with the same parameter function but I cannot figure out how to apply this to new lines.

...not sure what you mean by "this line can by copied with the same parameter function".

@barthbradley Thanks for the reply, I did read this before and as noted don't have 2021 installed. What I am noting is the line between the detail number and sheet number in the OTB section bubble family. Check the link in my op to see the screenshot. I assume this parameter is a unicorn and cannot be created for other lines to use.

Ah! Sorry Chief; I didn't see your screenshot.  "Rotate with Section" might become active under a different Category.  Don't remember or never knew -- or maybe it doesn't do anything anymore. Some properties are hold-overs from versions passed.

@barthbradley No worries, my insert image button wasn't working for this post so I inserted it as a file, easy to miss. The line in question isn't obvious unless you dissect the OTB section marker. Then you start to think why this is the only line in a section marker that rotates. I suspect it was simply hardwired to get around the need for this particular instance and cannot be applied to any new elements.

I think the parameter name is misleading. That built-in line and the labels in the section head orientation is fixed. They never rotate to follow the section line. If you want a line to rotate, then draw a new line in, but it is useless because the labels don't rotate.

Hi @ToanDN, thanks for joining the conversation. I think the term "rotate" does apply as the logic points to the fact that the family rotates aside from the labels and that unique line. In 2021 they have included the ability to rotate labels in a box that says "rotate text with component" (I just loaded 2021 om my other laptop) But I think we are splitting hairs here and we both agree the "rotate with section" parameter cannot be applied to any other element, even in 2021
