Question: Accept preview location?

Hi fellas!

This is driving me nuts, is it possible to accept the preview location when inserting objects?
In this case we want to insert a detail group at the original location but can't find how. We don't want to place it "almost correct".

Thanks in advance!

What does this mean? "Original location" relative to what?

....the Detail has an Origin (a.k.a. Insertion Point). That Origin is at the intersection of the x and y Reference Planes in the Family.  You can align and lock the Detail Origin to anything you want in the Project, such as the intersection of x and y Reference Planes in the Project View.

The detail group was removed from the project.

Inserting it again from the menu as shown in my pic shows the 'original location' it had (preview with blue dashed lines). I would love to just 'accept' this location when re-inserting the group, but I can't seem to find any way.

I guess that manually placing it and trying to figure out where the origin is and snap to it could work though.

Are you Pasting it from the Clipboard? If so, try Paste to Current View.

Never mind. I see now you are inserting a Detail Group.  I still don't understand where you are struggling.  Can't you place it in the View and align it?

When you hover the detail group over the original location, you should see the purple origin lit up.

Have you tried using your Snap Overrides on placement to snap to something?

Didn't work. All I want is to accept the preview location, seems that it isn't possible at all?
Finding the original origin of the group seems to be the only way(?). It works, but is a bit troublesome.
