I am studying how I might model a ceiling with an alcove where I could hide a LED strip. (see picture of a section through the ceiling)
The ceilings and interior walls are all well cleaned-up and joined. And they look alight in section view, but in 3D view they still have that strip which is probably the structure of the wall. It will also look like that when trying to render the view.
Do you know how I might get rid of that strip, so that it shows the furring material all around?
PS: I tried switching the joins between the walls and the ceilings and then the strip moves to the lateral, but is still there, and still shows in rendering.

Also, I forgot to mention: if you have alternative ways to model this, then by all means, I am all ears ![]()
So, you want it to look like this?
If so, you can get there by Painting the Wall top with the same Material as the Ceiling and then using the Linework (LW) tool to make the lines "Invisible".
Honestly though, the Walls and Ceiling are completely different Materials. Why would they "look" joined? That's not how they would look in real life.
Yes, that is how I wanted them to look. Thanks for the hint with the painting and the linework. This basically confirms to me that there is no way to do this by actually modelling (joins, join precedence, wall/ceiling layers, layers precedence), but I just have to "fake it" for visual purposes. All right, fair enough, then I will fake it.
As for the fact that they should not look the same, I tend to disagree... both the walls and the ceiling use a "Metal Stud Layer". they are identical materials... they should clean-up nicely.... any thoughts why that is? (I'm asking just for my education)
I don't all the time without using linework tool and there are no lines.
Well, the LW tool may not even be necessary then. Paint tops of Wall the same as the Ceiling Material and Join.
TIP: do it in a non-shaded, non-realistic view.
