Greetings:
I'm trying to get the sum of all property line segments (perimeter) into a tag. I created a Property Schedule with a Distance column and set the column to calculate the total, so I have the perimeter number but do not know how to get it into a tag.
First time poster here.
Thanks,
EJ

You need to push that value to a Shared Parameter attached to Property Line properties. Then your tag can read that Shared Parameter value. Do you understand the concept/proceedure?
I created a shared parameter and named it Perimeter. I don't know how to get it to sum the property line segments. I've yet to grasp the different parameter types and their usage.
Well, first off: did you add that shared parameter to the Property Line properties? In other words, when you select a PL, does the shared parameter name appears under the PL's instance properties?
I have the shared parameter as a column in the Property Schedule but I think I need help with the formula. I have Distance in the formula but can't get the sum. I know the Excel function to use but not the Revit function.
Just create a property line schedule to get the sum of segment lengths, format it to show only the final number, and place it on sheet next to the property line to imitate a tag.
Do I just have to add Distance to the SP column and total the column? No formula?
Save me some work here @Anonymous. Post your rvt w/ schedule and we'll show you how.
Thanks ToanDN for the reply and what you suggested will work but I also need to use the perimeter in regularity calculations.

I only added Distance field to the schedule, set it to calculate total and un-itemize all instances to group them into one cell. What does the later part of your sentence mean? Why would this method prevent you from doing it?
From the way I understand it, you have created a formula to calculate the perimeter of a closed Property Line (e.g. the sum of all the individual property line segments that form the closed boundary), and now you want to push that calculated value to a shared parameter field that the a Property Line Tag can read and report.
Am I warm?
What if there is more than one property? And how do you calculate the perimeter automatically?
