properly scaled 3D export to .dwg

when exporting to .dwg in 3d view, scale when brought into other program is 1:1000 (very tiny) despite scale settings in program being appropriate and trying different scale settings in DWG/DXF export settings.

how can I maintain proper scale in 3D so I don't have to spend hours manually resizing?

1 unit = 1000 units? Huh?

Try exporting from a different 3D View.

Try to Use Inch as 1 dwg unit.

View scales have nothing to do with the actual dimensions of the exported geometry. Check Revit units settings (under Manage > Project Units) and make sure the DWG Export units match it.

@barthbradley

** when exported if is about 1 to 1000 smaller than I need it to be **

please elaborate on 'different 3D view' I'm unaware of another way to obtain 3d besides camera

@dferreira-blackwell

ive tried both standard unit types, it doesn't seem to change anything in either receiving program or revit

it seems my 'project units' feature is limited to changing the displayed unit length ie 1'4" or 16" type of change, not changing the physical dimensionsscale3.JPG

@ToanDNreread your comment, scaling export to 585/265" now should do the trick.

Just delete the default 3D View and then recreate one using the lil' house icon on the QAT.  My thought was that the View may be corrupted.  Let's rule that out first.

now I think revit is telling me the file is to large to import at that physical size? breaking ground on this one, never tried to zip a rvt before an export or any other type of file compression.scale4.JPG

You can create 3d view by placing elevation or section. simple place them & set the extent. then open default 3d view Right click on view cube-->Select Orient To view--> select your newly created section or elevation. To save this view Right click on view cube---> Save view.

Use Crop Region and set it in a way so only items need in view are visible. Then maybe Change your Units to Feets, in Inches We typically have this problem about file being too large,
