I have already modeled my existing structure and it is long in the left-to-right direction. It needs to stay this way to fit on the propsed sheet(s). I would like to project north to also be left-to-right. "Rotate Project North" simply rotates my graphics. Is there a workarount?
The "Rotate True North" command simply gives me an error box that I don't understand. i.e. "View must be oriented to True North (available only in plan view). Modify the view's properties or use a different view."
All help appreciated.
Followed all steps in the Podcast and it left my 3D view oriented correctly (Project left-to-right, North left-to-right) BUT my floor plan view is now perpendicular (up-and-down) and will not fit on my sheet. How do I accomplish both.
Thank you.
Change the scale in sheet, shown below
You can rotate the view to make it fit (assuming it fit before you rotated north). Activate 'Crop Region Visible' under 'Extents' in the Properties palette. In the view, select the border of the crop region, and rotate it 90 degrees in the opposite direction that you want the view to rotate. One downside to this is that when you cut-and-paste between views, unless you're pasting 'Aligned to View', you can end up with the pasted elements rotated. Not huge, but annoying at times.
This is besides answering your question, perhaps you can bring it up to yr supper. There is unwritten rule in architecture: building north always to the north of the paper (that's why you have the north arrow symbol turning at different angle from project to project). If the project has multiple buildings then project north is the true north, hence you would have a small key plan to help with orientation. Most of the time Rv assumes us follow conventional architecture rule. In your case I assume your true north is pointing left to right.
