Project load time issues

I don't really know where I should go to with this, but I figured the Revit team would find this interesting to know this. Recently I've had an issue where Revit just wouldn't open a certain project, really weird because that project did open on every other computer at the office. A reinstall of Revit worked, but now it takes really long to load the project, maybe the Revit team could issue a fix for this.

Hi, @jeroen.van.halderen ,

This sounds like a support issue, so I have moved this post to the forums for escalation.

Thank you!

Thank you, now I know where I need to place comments about weird issues that I experience in Revit in the future.

Thank you for the question @jeroen.van.halderen!

To narrow the scope of what is causing the slow load times of the project, I would suggest trying the following (retesting the performance after each item):

  • If the model is stored on the network or on the cloud, save a local copy of the model.
  • If there are linked models, remove these links (from a non-production copy of the model).
  • Disable add-ins loaded into Revit.
  • Check the amount of available RAM (Task Manager) before opening the model, and ensure that it is at least 20 times the model RVT size. (If not, try opening on a system with more RAM.)
  • Check if you have the latest build of Revit and if not, try updating. (This would rule out issues fixed by one or more of the updates.)

If the steps above did not lead to an answer/solution could you reply with a journal recorded when opening (local copy of the model, with no links, and disabled add-ins)?

Also, it would be good to know what performance you are seeing, what performance you are expecting to see, and what you are comparing the performance to (e.g. an older smaller/simpler version of the same model or other models of comparable size/complexity).

Hi @Lance.Coffey,

I've already reinstalled Revit, so I have the latest build as you suggested, and now the issue seems to be resolved, the project that took so long to load last time doesn't take that long to load anymore. Well, not longer than usual anyway, it's quite a big project.

Thanks for your help!
