Hi everyone,
I saw a couple of posts in the past regarding Update Elements and "Transaction: Generating Graphics for 3D view XX.." and never got a clear answer..
Can somebody from Autodesk explain what's the reason for that and best practice to get this controlled? I don't understand the logic why Revit has to update EVERY 3D View when applying View Templates / VG changes / Opening Links or Worksets, etc.
Cheers,
Carmine Andrea Rago
If these updates are affecting performance then it's either hardware related or something is not right with the model(s). Does this happen as soon as a new project is created or does it develop over time?
Well, this is something I spotted during different projects, regardless of link structure or Pc configuration, that's why I'm asking whethere this is a Revit thing or glitch.

Your question is vague at best without additional information. I'm going to say the answer is yes.
Did you ever get an answer on this? I'm having this issue on a project when attempting to do things related to masses.
We're also having serious issues with this, it is current costing my firm thousands of dollars.
How much it costs is irrelevant here unless you're trying to hurt the bottom line.
So far, there is hardly enough information to figure out your issue, or anyone else's for that matter. You need to demonstrate how it's happening so that it can be duplicated or, if it's project specific, share it for inspection.
The issue has been resolved. The cause turned out to be unintuitive. A certain linked model used for space bounding was unloaded I think Revit tries to resolve an unbounded space when 3D views get refreshed, thereby taking much longer.
The issues was resolved simply by clicking 'Reload' on that particular linked model.
Has anyone else had any success in resolving this issue? It's been a persistent problem for us and wondering if/what solutions worked for others
Cheers, Pete
As the post above yours suggests, I think you need to look for possible causes in your project or post it here.
Just giving this a bump wondering if anyone made a miraculous breakthrough on what causes it? We've done a fair bit of digging to periodically cull elements from models we know it to be occuring in but to limited success.
Potential causes are quite varied and most likely related to something in the project that cannot be resolved because of an error.
