Hi all,
So I have a file set up in Revit 2017. Everything is going fine until I export that out to FBX and try to import into 3DS Max 2016. It is coming in at 10 times smaller than it should be.
For example a Cylinder that is 5m high is becoming 50cm in height.
Unfortunately linking the Revit isn't an option due to the sheer scale of the scene, and the 8-9 RVT links inside the original RVT file
If anyone else has dealt with this before any help would be appreciate.
Thanks,

Hi,
Follow the steps below prior to import of FBX file
1/ In 3ds Max, go to- Customize>Units Setup
2/ From the ‘Units Setup’ window, select ‘System Unit Setup’ to open the System Unit Setup dialog
3/ From the ‘System Unit Setup’ dialog, set the following
System Unit Scale-
1 Unit = Feet
This problem occur because Revit FBX files use Feet as the default unit setup
Hope that helps
Cheers,
BANI Abdelwaheb,
Thanks for this.
Unfortunately the problem goes the other way when i do this. Now the objects are way, way too big.
Do you have the default units in Max set to Meters? What about default units in Revit? Your Revit Project Units should match the units in Max.
Hi
Both are set to mm.
Its weird as the exact same file works perfectly importing into max 2017. I'm guessing their was a bug fix along the way which correct the problem
Sadly the company is set up to use 2016 right now so can't swap over and make it simple!
This is for a rendering, right? So object intelligence would not be an issue?
Import to Max 2017>>export to dxf>>import into Max16?
Stranger things have been known to happen!
