Hello,
I have an issue that I can't solve.
Problem:
Lets say I have 10 types of box. Each box has 6 sides and so six pieces.
So, in Revit, I have 10 host families. Each hosting 6 nested parts.
There are 40 nested families in total all with a unique Mark Number 1 - 40.
Each of these are nested into one or more of the host families. Some are unique to a hosted family, some are shared by more than one hosted family.
Most host families contain 5 nested families (not six) where one of the nested families is used twice.
So, lets say:
Host family 1 contains:
1 x Nested family A
1 x Nested family B
1 x Nested family C
1 x Nested family D
2 x Nested family E
Host family 2 contains:
1 x Nested family F
1 x Nested family G
1 x Nested family H
1 x Nested family I
2 x Nested family E
And so on..
Basically I want a schedule to show me the above.
I'm very close to solving this, looking through other forum advice, I've assigned a 'Packaging ID' (instant text) param to each nested family and linked it with the same param in the hosted family. In the project I can create a schedule to show me the packaging ID of each part. I cannot get it to reflect the fact that there is more than one instance in a hosted family though.
Any ideas?
far I have managed to create a sc
Wow, that's too much math for me to compute in my head and I don't have that many fingers.
Post the file and we'll figure it out for you.
Damm, even after removing all but 6 host families I can't upload the file - too large at 224,208 KB.
I've 'purged all' - is there any other way to reduce file size?
Revit LT doesn't have such a feature.
Any other way? - email, wetransfer
Okay, I reread what you wrote and it sounds like you are wanting to just remove the Parent Family/Type from the Schedule. You can do this via Filter Rules. Are you using them?
Hey, Its not that - sorry, I maybe didn't explain it in the best way. What I want to do is schedule out each nested family in the host family.

I do this via Filters. Why can't you do the same?
Maybe screenshots would help me to understand, since you can't post the file.
In project, TAB select all nested families in each host and give them the same Mark as the host, or the same Mark with the host + a suffix. Then sort/group your schedule by Mark and add footer to get subtotal per group.
There's a gd chance I'm having a major blank - I do use filters a lot, but I can't think how to use them to achieve this.
So, in the pic below you can see 19 x T1 families that contain each part as a nested family (i've exploded one for ease of ref) In the schedule on the right you can see that there are 18 instance of the SCT Type 1. In the schedule on the left, you can see i have managed to schedule out the nested families belonging to each family too. But, what I want is for the count to be per host family, not the whole project. So, the counts in the left schedule are currently 19,1943,19,19. I want it to ready 1,1,2,1,1. I had wondered if there was a way i could divide by 19 in Revit, but not sure i can. My current work around is to take this into excel to do it.
Well, you would need to use Sorting/Group as well as Filters.
...wait a minute. " divide by 19"? Hmm, sounds like a job for a Percentage Calculated Value. That might get you to where you want to go.
This issue is I can't think of what combo to use all the schedule tools, ie sorting/grouping, filtering etc etc to yield the result i want. But, I do use schedules a lot, so I'm either missing something totally obvious or what I'm trying to do isn't possible

Share an example file here then I can show you the schedule.
Are you saying that what I'm seeing in your screenshot is too big to post here? What the heck is making the RVT so heavy?
