problem with printing to *.plt files

I have a problem with printing - problem to *.plt files

I can’t use printing sets View/Sheet Set

Revit creates empty files or loses parts of drawings

I have Revit Architecture 2011 and 2012,  Revit MEP 2011 and 2012 with every services pack

All my PC Stations are (Dell Precision T3500 (6GB RAM)  Windows 7 Ultimate 64 BIT)

I tested 3 PC Stations and 3 types of printers (TDS400, HP DesignJet 1050, HP DesignJet T770

Printing size was A0 and A1.

Where is my mistake or what kind of limitations has Revit?

Not sure if you found this post or if will address this, but I figured I'd pass it along http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=24542

Also, in past lives I always went to the plotter via PDF or DWF. Both good options if PLT keeps given you issues.

Thanks for posting.

I tried many different types of printers ( TDS 450, TDS800, HP1050,HP T770 HP600 MUTOH RJ-900Cand other) and multiple version of the drivers (older and newer)

Unfortunately printing of the file still does not work. Test were conducted on various units of computers and operating systems (Win 7, Win XP) In all the cases part of the files has size zero

We are obliged to present our project in plt format

As a matter of interest can you print anything to PLT? Did you test in a new Revit project going out to PLT to see if you get the same results?

Thanks,

All small projects are printed correctly, but three  big projects I can’t print to PLT (revit files have more than 100 MB, and hundreds sheets )

Perhaps if because of the file size, but I'm not certain. If you print to PRN and them change to PLT will they print? Also, I read somewhere that you can convert PDF's to PLT's. How about coming out of Revit via PDF and then converting to PLT.

Thank you,

Hello, friends,

I have the same problem. When I want to plot to plt and choose batch print option, I get only 0-Kb files as the output.

But if I plot the same sheets one-by-one manually, plts are created correctly! What's the matter?

Plotter driver is up-to-date...

Hello, friends,

I have noticed, that there is a connection between empty (0 kB) plt-files and the length of these printed files.

I don't remember the exact length of the address, but it must be up to 150...170 symbols.

The line, for example, “C:/Documents and Settings/Bobby/Documents/Revit Project/SHEET NAME.plt” should be shorter that 150…170 symbols.

So, either try to save a plt-file to the root folder (“C:/”) or make the name of a sheet shorter.

With short addresses batch printing and plt-files are fine.
